Chapter 292 is planning our annual trip to Hillsboro, and wish to invite other STAR members to join us. We plan to ride to Hillsboro on Friday, June 23, participate in a poker run that leaves and returns to the Hillsboro Hotel on Saturday, eat some BBQ chicken in Rockton on Sunday, and return home on Monday. We will do more riding around these scheduled events.

I have a block of rooms reserved under "STAR", or if that fails try my name (Rick Gorter). Join us for the entire trip, or come for the days you can. Call me if you have questions.

Sheryle and I would like to join you for this trip.

My hotel reservation has been made. This trip will be the first with my (new) Kingpin; hopefully I'll get enough ride time in this spring that "we" will be comfortable together.

Hi Cindy
I'm really glad your going to make it to Hillsboro this year. It will be allot of fun. And don't worry you'll do great on the new bike.

For those who want to ride to Hillsboro as a group, we will have a route planned. Our departure point will be the Holiday gas station at: 12370 W Point Douglas Rd, Hastings, MN 55033. Kickstands up at 10AM from that site. I'm told the restaurant that used to be there has closed. I plan to lead a route east out of Prescott, and then south to Hanson's Holdup for lunch, and then on to Hillsboro. We have taken this general route before, and it gets us into Hillsboro later in the afternoon.

Some of us will also meet for breakfast at the Perkins in Golden Valley on Hwy 55 just east of Hwy 169. Breakfast at 8AM, and we'll leave at 9AM for the Point. If you let us know you plan to be part of the group, we won't leave without you. WE WILL NOT PRERIDE THE ROUTE DOWN!!!. If we encounter any road construction, it will add to the thrill, right?

The schedule for the weekend starts with a Poker run that leaves from the hotel on Saturday AM. It leaves later in the morning, so early risers could get in a short ride before the run. Last year, the route was nice, but they do stop more than they ride. We didn't mind so much because it was pretty hot that day, and the AC breaks were appreciated. The hotel typically has an evening meal provided for those who participate in the charity Poker run, and they have some sort of live music outdoors.

Think about whether or not you will be staying for the chicken dinner feed mid-day Sunday in Rockton (near Hillsboro). I will take a count the day we arrive in Hillsboro, and then phone in a "reservation" for those who plan to go. I plan to have a Sunday morning ride that will end in Rockton for lunch. Plenty of time for more riding Sunday afternoon, but I don't plan to lead a route after lunch.

On Monday most get up at a leisurely pace, and head for home. Some will leave early, and some not so much. Most take 61 north on the MN side of the river. If you want to return as part of a group, ask when people are leaving, and find a group that meets your schedule. We have also taken a longer route through Lanesboro, and then head north on Hwy 52.

Contact me if you have specific questions.
